Eedris Abdulkareem and other 90s stars whose star seems to have dimmed.
Before Wizkid and Davido and even Dbanj, there was Eedris Abdulkareem and a couple of other stars you might not know about.
And that is not a problem, because as much as these Stars shone, their reign was pretty much short in the Industry.
Here’s a list of some of the stars who were a big deal in the 90s but aren’t even thought about anymore.
PS: Some of these guys reigned into the early 20s but not later than 2005. Eedris Abdulkareem
The Star who was huge in the 90s had his major nemesis in President ObasanjoBefore Shoprite, selfies and OAPs with accent that they bought from supermarketwas Eedris Abdulkareem and his rap that was barely comprehensible.
And even though this music star entered the 2000s with his popularity, it all declined when he released the hit Jagajaga which
spoke the truth about Nigeria’s political state but which clearly
rubbed off the then President (Olusegun Obasanjo) wrongly.
Lesson: Do not sing about the obvious state of the country if you’re not Fela Kuti. Tony Tetuila
The Star’s shine was as bright as his signature hair and as short as the length of the hair itselfTony Tetuila’s hit You Don Hit My Car
rocked basically everywhere when he dropped it back in early 2000s but
as at 2005, his car was not the only thing that seemed to have been hit.
His career also seemed to have been hit… by the (hypothetic) rocks. Sandra Achums
The only film the actress seems to be interested in these days is her lifeBefore
Genevieve Nnaji, Tonto Dikeh and all of your favorite stars right now
was Sandra Achums. After making her big break and appearing in major
films in the 90s and early 20s, Sandra Achums suddenly vanished from the
radar.
She was later reported to be living in Germany with her
husband. Clearly the only acting Sandra is interested in right now is
that of her life. After all, life is a stage. Susan Patrick
The Star’s acting career seemed to have snaked outta the doorSakobi The Snake Girl
is one of the biggest movies to have come out of the 90s and Susan
Patrick starred in the major role. Other movies followed this huge 90s
hit but Susan’s career seemed to go down south after a while. The pretty
actress’s career definitely must have snaked in another direction
because these days, we hear nothing about her. Saint Obi
The “Saint” couldn’t redeem his career after numerous popular moviesSaint
Obi was a household name in the 90s and early 2000s, the A list Actor
was one of the most sought actors during the time of his reign.
Credited
with some of the most successful movies over a decade ago (including
Festival Of Fire), the Nollywood actor was very hot in his hey day.
However,
Mr Obi is either not interested in Nollywood any more or the roles
aren’t worth it. Whatever the case, aint no fire in this man’s career no
more. Charles Okafor
The Actor prefers his religion these daysThe
Actor was a popular face in the 90s but these days, he has dedicated
his time to his religion which he says has to glorify God.
He also adds that he picks his scripts these days and has to honor God through his roles.
And since Nollywood is into nude women mostly these days, looks like Mr Okafor won’t be gracing
